This report presents an economic analysis of PET recycling in Europe. It is intended for planners and commercial managers at plastics companies and engineering & construction contractors. It also should be of interest to environmental regulators.
The primary result is an estimate of the economics of collecting, sorting and processing post-consumer PET into PET recyclate, so-called RPET. Development of the market and regulatory compliance are also estimated.
The analysis covers:
- Western Europe
- Base year 2002
- Solid state PET, which is used primarily in drinks bottles
It is presented in four main chapters:
- PET recycling market
- Description of the PET recycling system
- Costs of producing RPET
- Profitability of RPET production
A final chapter lists vendors of PET recycling equipment and technology.
