Exclusion of Ratings from S&P Dow Jones Indices Fixed Income Constituent Files - Completed - July 1, 2019

S&P Dow Jones Indices (“S&P DJI”) is writing to notify you of a change in business practices being implemented by the bond ratings agencies, Fitch, Moody’s, S&P Ratings, that will affect S&P DJI’s Fixed Income file packages.  The Ratings Agencies have notified S&P DJI that in order for our clients to continue to receive ratings data with respect to index constituents (the “Ratings”) delivered directly from S&P DJI, each client will need to obtain formal approval directly from the Ratings Agencies.  Therefore, unless otherwise approved by all three Ratings Agencies, S&P DJI will not be permitted to continue to deliver Ratings to you from Thursday, July 1, 2019 forward. 

S&P DJI intends to offer Fixed Income constituent-level files without Ratings for those clients who do not have the necessary approvals.  We plan to make available our new ‘non-Ratings’ constituent files (.SPFIC) for a parallel transition period prior to July 1, 2019, and further details on this will be announced in due course.  Index level (.SPFIL, .SPL, .SPLL) will not be impacted by this transition.
