The recent acute outburst of civil unrest in Kazakhstan highlights the underlying risk of social upheaval, absent the implementation of government policy that is responsive to societal priorities. The government has announced a number of transformative initiatives that will likely affect Kazakh corporates and government-related entities (GREs). We currently anticipate that these actions will be tangible, but balanced.
