As the U.K. pubs are reopening their doors and social distancing restrictions are gradually eased, S&P Global Ratings expects operating prospects will remain tough over the medium term. The period of maximum liquidity stress may be behind us for the U.K. pub corporate securitizations and we expect the pub sector will recover to near-2019 levels by 2023.
Business models will have to evolve from a drinks-led focus to cater to a wider range of customer preferences with food as a bigger part of their offerings.
Hear senior analysts from S&P Global Ratings' European Retail team discuss the prospects for the U.K. pub sector and credit implications.
