Walmart Inc. named Jamie Iannone as COO of its U.S. e-commerce business, effective immediately, according to a company memo obtained by S&P Global Market Intelligence.
Iannone will focus on strengthening the company's online segment to make Walmart a "truly omnichannel organization," the internal memo said.
The executive joined Walmart in 2014 as CEO of SamsClub.com, the online retail division of its membership warehouse unit Sam's Club. He is also Walmart's executive vice president of membership and technology.
Iannone will report to Walmart U.S. e-commerce President and CEO Marc Lore and Walmart U.S. President and CEO John Furner. The company added that it will soon bring on Iannone's successor.
Before joining the Arkansas-based retailer, Iannone was president of digital products at Barnes & Noble Inc.
The news comes more than three months after the company appointed Kathryn McLay as the executive vice president, president and CEO of its Sam's Club division.
Walmart also announced that Tony Rogers, senior vice president and chief member officer for Sam's Club, will head the unit's advanced analytics team. Megan Crozier, Sam's Club's chief merchant, will lead both in-store and online merchandising for the division.
