A court in Moscow imposed a new fine of 3 million Russian rubles on Google LLC for allegedly failing to remove online content banned by the Russian government, Agence France-Presse reported Dec. 17, citing a statement from local regulator Roskomnadzor.
According to the Russian communications and media regulator, the Alphabet Inc. unit failed to remove on average 30% of prohibited links tackling extremism, pornography or suicide.
In August, Google also reportedly received a fine of 1.5 million rubles for insufficiently filtering banned content in Russia.
As of Dec. 17, US$1 was equivalent to 72.84 Russian rubles.
