Top News

* Broadcom Inc. announced the resignation of Thomas Krause, president of the software group, effective July 15. Broadcom President and CEO Hock Tan will take over the responsibilities of Krause, who will become CEO of the combined Citrix Systems Inc. and TIBCO Software Inc. In addition, Broadcom named COO Charlie Kawwas as president of its new semiconductor solutions group.

* Red Hat Inc. appointed Matt Hicks as its new president and CEO. He replaces Paul Cormier, who will become company chairman. Hicks was previously executive vice president of products and technologies.

The Americas

* Microsoft Corp. laid off less than 1% of its 180,000-person global workforce as part of "structural adjustments," with the job cuts affecting various groups across geographies, Bloomberg News reported, citing an emailed company statement. However, Microsoft also plans to continue hiring for certain roles and to increase its headcount in the current fiscal year.

* Comcast Corp. unit Comcast Cable appointed James Rooke as president of its advertising division. Rooke replaces Marcien Jenckes, who will become managing director of Comcast Advertising and lead the streaming platform joint venture between Comcast and Charter Communications Inc.

* Australian operator Telstra Corp. Ltd. named Steve Mundt vice president of enterprise and technology for the Americas.

* Twitter Inc. downsized its talent acquisition team by 30% as part of restructuring and cost-cutting efforts ahead of a potential takeover by Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk, The Wall Street Journal reported. The job cuts impacted fewer than 100 people.

* GameStop Corp. appointed Chief Accounting Officer Diana Saadeh-Jajeh as CFO, effective immediately, as it announced the termination of former CFO Michael Recupero's employment. The company is also laying off staff to help "keep things simple and operate nimbly," The Wall Street Journal reported, citing an internal memo.

* Connor Schell resigned from the board of World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. due to new responsibilities from his new role at content studio The North Road Co.

* MeridianLink Inc. named Duston Williams to its board. The new director was recently CFO of Nutanix Inc.

* Quotient Technology Inc. will cut down its U.S. workforce by 12% under its ongoing business transformation efforts. The layoffs will impact nearly 74 employees across all functions and will result in cash-based charges of about $7 million.

* Former U.S. President Donald Trump was removed from the board of Trump Media & Technology Group Corp. in June, Reuters reported, citing state documents. However, the company's Truth Social platform said in a post that Trump is still a director of TMTG.

* A Medium Corp. named Tony Stubblebine CEO and board member, effective July 20. Stubblebine replaces founder Ev Williams, who will become the first chairman of the board.

Europe, Middle East and Africa

* Oracle Corp. is dismissing all of its employees in Russia by Aug. 31 after it exited the Russian market in March due to its invasion of Ukraine, Telecompaper reported, citing Cnews.ru. The computer software company has about 300 staff in the country.

* Croatia's Hrvatski Telekom named Matija Kovačević its new CFO, effective Aug. 1. Kovačević succeeds Daniel Daub, who will become senior vice president of finance in the parent company, Deutsche Telekom AG's European business.

* French IT company Atos SE appointed Nourdine Bihmane as its new group CEO, effective immediately, succeeding Rodolphe Belmer. Bihmane will also be co-CEO of Atos' Tech Foundations business. Diane Galbe will be the group's senior executive vice president, while Philippe Oliva will become co-CEO in charge of digital, big data and security activities while retaining the role of group deputy CEO. Atos also named Kat Hopkins, René Proglio, Astrid Strange and Elizabeth Tinkham to its board of directors.

* U.K. social media platform SEEEN PLC promoted CFO Adrian Hargrave to CEO, while interim co-CEOs Akiko Mikumo and David Anton will become nonexecutive directors again, Dow Jones Newswires reported.

* Sally Tilleray and Patsy Wilkinson will join U.K. internet company Nominet UK Ltd. as board members, effective Aug. 1 and after Oct. 6, respectively. Tilleray and Wilkinson will replace Rob Binns and Stephen Page.

* Marco Arioli will become chief technology officer of Italian telecom operator EOLO SpA, Telecompaper reported.

* U.K. public broadcaster Channel 4 (UK) appointed Marcia Williams to the newly created position of director of inclusion, effective in August.

Asia-Pacific

* Yoshio Sato will serve as CEO of Seren Juno Network Co. Ltd., a company formed to build and operate the planned Juno subsea cable system between Japan and the U.S. Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. unit NTT Ltd. Japan Corp., Mitsui & Co. Ltd., PC Landing Corp., and JA Mitsui Leasing Ltd. will each hold stakes in the new company.

* Li Zhengmao retired as president, COO and an executive director of China Telecom Corp. Ltd., effective July 12, due to his age.

* A Telstra-controlled board led by Telstra Enterprise Group Executive David Burns will oversee the operations of Digicel Pacific Ltd., which provides communications services in Fiji, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu. Telstra acquired Digicel Pacific in partnership with the Australian government.

* Thai mobile operator Advanced Info Service PCL created a new subsidiary, AIS DC Venture Co. Ltd., which will aim to invest in the data center business. Kitti Ngarmchatetanarom, Tanapong Ittisakulchai and Tee Seeumpornroj will be AIS DC's directors.

* Krishnendu Datta will serve as CEO of Credence, the newly launched cloud and digital services unit of Telekom Malaysia.

* Natwut Amornvivat stepped down as a co-president of Thai telco True Corp. PCL to assume the chairmanship of True Digital Group Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of the former. Manat Manavutiveth and Teeradet Dumrongbhalasit will remain co-presidents of True Corp.

* Australia's Spirit Technology Solutions Ltd. named Julian Challingsworth as managing director and CEO, effective July 11. Challingsworth was previously co-CEO of cybersecurity provider Tesserent Ltd.

* Rakuten Mobile Inc. President Shunsuke Yazawa will become the representative director of Rakuten Mobile Infra Solution Inc., a new company formed in partnership with TEPCO Power Grid Inc. that will provide support for constructing base stations and expanding Rakuten Mobile's network.
