NEW YORK, USA and LIMA, PERU, JULY 7, 2021: S&P Dow Jones Indices (“S&P DJI”), the world’s leading index provider and the Lima Stock Exchange (“BVL”) announced today that they will launch a new Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) index for the Peruvian market later this year that will provide local and international market participants a new performance benchmark that incorporates global ESG principles and scores.
This upcoming index will replace the existing S&P/BVL IBGC Index (Good Corporate Governance Index) which will be retired in December 2021. S&P DJI will continue to calculate the S&P/BVL IBGC Index. A more detailed update about the decommissioning of the S&P/BVL IBGC Index as well as the new ESG index and its methodology will be forthcoming in the coming weeks.
