Vietnam central bank names new governor – Reuters

Vietnam's National Assembly approved Nguyen Thi Hong's appointment as the new governor of State Bank of Vietnam, the first woman to hold the post, Reuters reported Nov. 12.

Hong, who served as the central bank's deputy governor, replaces Le Minh Hung, who has moved to a senior role in the ruling Communist Party.

Hong, whose appointment was backed by 97% of the legislature, was the only candidate nominated for the post, the news outlet said.
