GoodRx Holdings Inc. is expanding benefits to its GoodRx Gold subscription program by offering discounts on telehealth appointments and mail-order delivery on prescriptions.
The new telehealth program allows GoodRx Gold members to see doctors through the GoodRx phone app for as low as $10. These same members can save up to 90% off prescription medications at brick-and-mortar pharmacies or have them mailed to their homes.
The Santa Monica, Calif.-based company offers GoodRx Gold memberships starting at $5.99 per month for individuals and $9.99 per month for families with up to six members.
"Over the past year, we have launched several new services — HeyDoctor by GoodRx and telehealth & labs marketplaces — which make accessing care easier and more affordable for consumers," GoodRx co-founder and co-CEO Doug Hirsch said in a Dec. 16 statement. "With these improvements to GoodRx Gold, we are expanding access to even more people and delivering deeper savings than are available anywhere else on the market."
The news comes nearly one month after e-commerce giant Amazon.com Inc. announced its new program Amazon Pharmacy, which allows users to purchase and ship prescriptions directly from Amazon.
Amazon's program also includes a savings card option through InsideRx, a unit of Cigna Corp.'s Express Scripts Inc., which some analysts saw as potential competition to GoodRx's prescription savings platform. GoodRx's share price dropped significantly following Amazon's announcement.
Unlike Amazon Pharmacy, GoodRx is currently able to ship to all 50 states and the District of Columbia even though GoodRx Gold is not available in Washington state. Amazon Pharmacy is currently not available in Hawaii, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana or Minnesota.
