Aker Solutions ASA entered into a 20-year master service agreement with Chevron Corp. to provide umbilicals for the oil supermajor's operated oil and gas fields in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, according to a March 23 news release.
The agreement's scope includes the engineering, design and manufacturing of dynamic and static control umbilicals, dynamic and static power umbilicals, and service and installation support.
In addition, Aker Solutions was granted the first work order, under the agreement, to provide 24 kilometers of umbilicals for Chevron's Anchor project in the Gulf of Mexico.
Work will start immediately, with Aker Solutions' facility in Mobile, Ala., handling the engineering, design and manufacturing of the umbilicals.
Financial details were not disclosed.
In late February, Chevron granted John Wood Group PLC a contract for a "multimillion-dollar engineering design project" for the Anchor development.
The Anchor field is in the Green Canyon area off the coast of Louisiana in water depths of approximately 1,524 meters. Anchor's total potentially recoverable oil-equivalent resources are estimated to exceed 440 million barrels. Chevron sanctioned the project in mid-December 2019.
Chevron, through its Chevron U.S.A. Inc. subsidiary, operates the Anchor project with a 62.86% stake, while Total SA unit Total E&P USA Inc holds the remaining 37.14% interest.
