Lauren Smart is Chief Commercial Officer of S&P Global Sustainable1, with global expertise in sustainable finance. She leads a team committed to growing S&P Global’s ESG business with functional responsibilities for commercial strategy, go to market, product specialists, client engagement and marketing. 

Prior to joining S&P Lauren was a member of the board and senior management team of Trucost responsible for the successful sale of the business to S&P Dow Jones Indices in 2016 and integrating the Trucost business into S&P Global Market Intelligence in 2018. She was integrally involved in a number of major market innovations such as developing the world’s first portfolio carbon footprint and helped grow the Trucost business from being a start up to a market leader in climate finance. Prior to Trucost, Lauren worked in Equity Research in the fund management industry and was a consultant at the UK Government’s Department for International Development working on the Millennium Development Goals.

Lauren is a regular speaker and respected commentator on sustainable finance, quoted in publications such as the Economist, Investment Week, IPE and The Actuary. In 2019 she was a speaker in Davos at the World Economic Forum on, “The future of finance”. Lauren holds a BA & MA from Cambridge University in Archaeology & Anthropology and an MSc in Anthropology & International Development from the London School of Economics. 

Jaspreet Duhra is Managing Director and Global Head of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Indices at S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI). Jaspreet is involved in the design, methodology, and strategic direction of S&P DJI ESG Indices globally, as well as working closely with the Global Research & Design, Sales, and Marketing departments to bring new indices to market. S&P DJI caters to a diverse spectrum of ESG investing needs, from best-in-class approaches like ESG Elite, to broad-market ESG alternatives to mainstream indices like the S&P 500® ESG Index. 

Before joining S&P DJI in 2019, Jaspreet worked as an ESG Product Specialist at ISS, as the Head of the U.K. office at oekom research, and in business development, account management, and analyst roles at Eiris. 

Jaspreet holds a BSc in geography and geology from the University of Manchester and an MSc in environmental technology (business and environment) from Imperial College London.

Manjit Jus is Managing Director and Global Head of ESG Research & at S&P Global Sustainable1. Manjit led the ESG Ratings business at sustainable investment pioneer Robeco SAM prior to the acquisition of the business by S&P Global in January 2020. Manjit oversees the SAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), ESG research and scores and thought leadership powering the various S&P Global Divisions.

Manjit chairs the S&P Global CSA Methodology Committee and sits on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices Committee. Since 2011, Manjit has held a number of roles in ESG research and technology, engaging with corporates and investors on ESG strategy and integration.

In his current role, Manjit works with other senior leaders across the S&P Global divisions to define and deliver the cross-divisional ESG strategy at S&P Global. He is based in Zurich, Switzerland where he oversees a global team of over 270 ESG data experts, analysts and data scientists. He is a regular speaker at leading events on sustainability and regularly participates in working groups of ESG reporting standard setters. Manjit holds a bachelor’s degree in International Management and Finance from SBS Swiss Business School and a certificate in Digital Strategy from MIT Sloan.

James McMahon founded The Climate Service with the vision that every economic decision on Earth should incorporate climate change. The company’s risk analytics software as a service gives investors and corporate managers the financial information they need to incorporate climate-related risk into their decisions.

McMahon began his career in global change by studying physics at Harvard University, and atmospheric chemistry at MIT under the guidance of Nobel Laureate Mario Molina.

McMahon went on to accumulate 10 years experience inside a multinational corporation, including managing Coca-Cola’s consumer marketing technology group. He then led three small technology firms as COO and CEO. He served for 6 years as Senior Advisor to the Director of NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information. He was CEO of The Collider – a groundbreaking nonprofit innovation center for climate solutions.
