At the same time, just 49% of revenues of these companies are generated in business activities that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Measuring Progress
The global pandemic highlighted the value of environmental, social, and corporate governance considerations in capital markets – amplifying the call for more standardized, comprehensive, and actionable measurements. The content throughout the event will answer the question, “How can we efficiently scale the correct reporting disclosure throughout the global value chain?”
Achieving Net-Zero
Current progress towards the Paris Agreement goals has been slow. However, the recent explosion of net-zero commitments from companies, financial institutions, and countries provides much optimism. We will address the challenges of this goal from plotting the course to financing the ambition.
Improving Transparency
Accelerating progress on global climate and sustainability requires greater transparency to impact the decisions of financial institutions, companies, and everyday consumers. We will take an expedition through the details of delivering transparency across investment funds, bank loan books, companies, and product portfolios.
Prior to that, she was the Head of Corporate Ratings in EMEA, managing a team of 140 analysts spanning 10 offices and covering over 1,000 credit ratings on corporate issuers in the region. In her previous role as Head of Methodology for Sovereigns and Public Finance Ratings, she developed the methodology for the rating of sovereign governments, multilateral lending institutions, local and regional governments and public enterprises. She started at S&P Global Ratings in 1995 as a public finance credit analyst and moved into leadership roles, developing an extensive experience in credit analysis across multiple sectors.
Alexandra also chairs the S&P Global Diversity Research Lab and coordinate thematic research across S&P Global.
Alexandra started her career with the consulting firm Arthur Andersen. She holds a master from Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) in Economy and Finance. Minimize
Dan Draper is Chief Executive Officer at S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI), responsible for all aspects of the index business globally. S&P DJI is the world’s leading index provider and offers investment professionals around the world an array of products from core indices such as the S&P 500® to broad comprehensive benchmarks.
Before joining S&P DJI, Mr. Draper held asset management, wealth management, and investment banking leadership positions in New York, London, Hong Kong, and Jakarta with Invesco, Credit Suisse Asset Management, Lyxor Asset Management, iShares/Barclays Global Investors, Goldman Sachs, UBS Wealth Management, and Salomon Brothers.
Mr. Draper earned an MBA from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the College of William and Mary in Virginia. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) charterholder and holds the Chartered Market Technician®, Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst, Financial Risk Manager, Certified Financial Planner®, and Chartered Financial Consultant® designations.
Mr. Draper is the Chairperson for the Index Industry Association. He is a chartered director and fellow at the Institute of Directors in the UK and a board leadership fellow at the National Association of Corporate Directors in the U.S. In addition, he is a fellow of the 2017 class of the Aspen Institute Finance Leaders Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. He serves as a board director for the Lyric Opera of Chicago and Delta Dental of Virginia.
Doug Peterson has served as President, Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of S&P Global since 2013. He joined the company in 2011 as President of its credit ratings business.
Mr. Peterson has repositioned S&P Global to power the financial markets of the future with data, analytics and benchmarks. Under his leadership, the company has steadily made investments in people, international expansion, cutting-edge technology, innovation and environmental, social and governance, or ESG, solutions. In early 2022, S&P Global completed a transformative merger with IHS Markit to create powerful new insights for customers.
Mr. Peterson is a leading voice on ESG issues. He chairs the Bipartisan Policy Center’s ESG Taskforce, and in 2021 he led a workstream of the G7’s Impact Taskforce focused on mobilizing private capital for public good by advocating for globally consistent standards to measure, value and account for sustainability. At S&P Global, Mr. Peterson created a new organization within the company, Sustainable1, to be a single source of intelligence for customers navigating the transition to a low carbon, sustainable and equitable future.
Before joining S&P Global, Mr. Peterson was the Chief Operating Officer of Citibank, N.A., Citigroup’s principal banking entity. Over his 26 years at Citigroup, he served as Chief Auditor, CEO of Citigroup Japan and in leadership roles in Latin America.
Mr. Peterson chairs the U.S.-Japan Business Council and is a member of the Boards of Directors of the Japan Society and the National Bureau of Economic Research. He also is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the New York Stock Exchange Board Advisory Council. In addition, he serves on the Advisory Board of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s Systemic Resolution Advisory Committee and as a Trustee of Claremont McKenna College and the Paul Taylor Dance Company.
Born and raised in New Mexico, Mr. Peterson received an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an undergraduate degree from Claremont McKenna College.
Martina L. Cheung is President of S&P Global Ratings. She has ultimate responsibility for all aspects of the business, including commercial, analytical, control, and operations functions.
S&P Global Ratings is regulated in many of the countries in which it operates, and Martina is a director of three of its largest legal entities, S&P Global Ratings Europe Limited, S&P Global Ratings UK Limited and Standard & Poor’s Financial Services LLC. Ms. Cheung also serves as the Executive Sponsor of S&P Global Sustainable1, supporting to drive the enterprise-wide growth strategy for ESG.
Ms. Cheung is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Economic Club of New York, and served on the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s (CFTC) subcommittee on Climate-Related Market Risk. Ms. Cheung has spoken on key industry topics covering ESG, cyber security, technology and diversity in the workforce across public forums that include the World Economic Forum at Davos, the Institute for International Finance membership meeting, and Politico Women Rule, among others.
Ms. Cheung joined S&P Global in 2010 as Vice President of Operations and went on to serve as S&P Global’s Chief Strategy Officer, where she was responsible for the execution and measurement of S&P Global’s continuing expansion of its global footprint. She also served as Head of Risk Services in S&P Global Market Intelligence, where she leveraged S&P Global’s significant risk intellectual property to serve clients in managing complex risk challenges. She most recently served as President of S&P Global Market Intelligence and Ms. Cheung formally served on the Board of CRISIL.
Ms. Cheung is the Executive Sponsor for the Asian Professionals for Excellence (APEX), and Women’s Initiative for Networking Success (WINS). She also has active involvement in other S&P Global ERGs including Women in Technology (WIT) and S&P Global's LGBTQ+ & Friends ERG (Spectrum). Ms. Cheung’s philanthropic efforts include support for organizations such as Upwardly Global and YWCA.
Prior to joining S&P Global, she worked in the consulting industry, first in Accenture’s Financial Services Strategy group and later as a Partner at Mitchell Madison Consulting. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Commerce and a master’s degree in Business Studies from National University of Ireland, Galway.
Prior to joining S&P Global, Michael was an Executive Director at MSCI Inc. and oversaw the company’s ESG Research in Australia and New Zealand. His career experience involves working in portfolio analytics, quantitative investment analysis and ESG research. Before MSCI Inc., he was part of the highly rated research team at Bank of America - Merrill Lynch where he was head of Emerging Markets quantitative analysis.
Michael was a cofounder in the Climakind initiative to reduce global carbon emissions by promoting a price on carbon and a thought leader in solutions to the rising levels of global carbon emissions.

In reflecting on people who succeed in the face of adversity I am also reminded of an early piece of career advice, “Action creates opportunity.” Opportunities are not always just out there, waiting to be discovered. This is especially true in today’s competitive and challenging business environment. This belief in the power of action gives me a great deal of motivation to push forward and try new things. I have learned that you have to be willing to take charge, to be proactive and even a bit fearless.
Looking back over my own career, I wish I had realized sooner that you need to “Own your career.” I did not pay enough attention to my career planning in the earlier years. But eventually I realized that a career without passion and enthusiasm is meaningless and lacks joy. You have to follow your passion and trust your instincts, and when you do, new opportunities and doors will open. Each of us needs to take charge of our own career goals, plan them, and then focus on the elements that help us achieve them. Minimize
Saugata Saha is President of S&P Global Commodity Insights and a member of S&P Global’s Executive Committee.
In prior roles at the company, Saugata was the Chief Financial Officer of two of S&P Global’s technology-driven, data, benchmarks, and analytics divisions, S&P Global Market Intelligence and S&P Global Platts. Prior to that, Saugata led financial planning & analyses (FP&A) and corporate strategy for the company; managed operations for the technology group; led the integration program for a large acquisition; and led the strategy team at S&P Global’s Ratings division.
Previously, Saugata was a consultant at McKinsey & Co.’s New York office where he led client engagements focused on strategy, M&A, corporate finance, and on improving operations across a range of industries, with particular emphasis on financial services.
Before joining McKinsey & Co., Saugata spent seven years at the Godrej Group, a $4 billion diversified conglomerate in Mumbai, India. At the Godrej Group, Saugata led sales teams and supply chain re-engineering projects and worked in the Office of the Group Chairman.
Saugata holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, with Honors, from St. Xavier’s College in Kolkata, India; a post-graduate diploma in Management from the Xavier Institute in Bhubaneswar, India; and a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School, where he was a George F. Baker Scholar.
He has 20 years of industry experience focused primarily in the capital and commodity markets. Prior to joining Market Intelligence, he worked on the Corporate Strategy and M&A team at Cargill, a global commodity and energy company based in Minneapolis. In this role, he split his time between leading M&A transactions and internal strategy projects both at the corporate and business unit level. Additionally, he served as a Vice President in the Institutional Equity Derivatives group at Morgan Stanley in London and New York.
Whit holds a B.A. degree in Economics from Hamilton College and an MBA from the Darden Business School at University of Virginia.
