Nick Thomson

Nick Thomson, research and analysis director of Upstream Research at S&P Global Commodity Insights, manages the organization with a focus on providing supply-related forecasts.

Nick has over 20 years of experience in the E&P business and has led numerous tailored consulting assignments for clients including major producers, smaller independents, and national agencies, working on many of the world's most important hydrocarbon provinces. Most recently he led the development of international supply content for the flagship Vantage product. He has particular expertise in developing software tools that have allowed clients to integrate data, geography, and forecasting methodologies to acquire deep insight into market fundamentals.

Prior to joining S&P Global, Nick worked for Shell International, where he held a range of technical, operational, and commercial roles in Europe, Africa, South East Asia, and the Middle East. He holds a First Class Honours Degree in Civil Engineering from Imperial College, London.
