    Overview - Self-guided training provides the basic skills for geological data loading and interpretation, including creating a new Kingdom project, importing well, culture and log data, and creating basic grids, contours, and cross sections. This course is intended for geoscientists and geo-technicians.

    Objectives - Hands-on exercises, and covering the following topics: -

    • Creating a Kingdom project and selecting a database

    Geophysics Getting Started

    Duration – estimated 4 hrs

    Overview - Self-guided training provides the basic software skills to import and interpret seismic data in S&P Global Kingdom® Geophysics. Students will learn how to import culture layers, 2D and 3D seismic data, and well data. Students will also learn how to prepare the seismic display windows for interpretation (including basic 2D and 3D horizon interpretation) and basic gridding and contouring.

    Objectives - Hands-on exercises, and covering the following topics: -

    • Creating a Kingdom project
    • Importing culture layers and culture groups
    • Importing 2D and 3D seismic data
    • Displaying and navigating through 2D and 3D seismic displays for interpretation

    Geophysical Data Loading

    Duration – 1 day

    Overview - Designed to introduce students to S&P Global Kingdom® SeismicDirect. Makes loading 2D SEG Y data more efficient and less time-consuming by using a novel approach of attaching 2D SEG Y data directly to the Kingdom projects instead of importing the data.

    Objectives - Hands-on exercises, and covering the following topics: -

    • View and edit 2D SEG Y files
    • Validate and attach multiple 2D SEG Y files to various Kingdom projects
    • Convert multiple 2D SEG Y files from one coordinate system to another
    • Copy and manage the 2D SEG Y files
    • Import and view 3D SEG Y files
    Basic Seismic Interpretation

    Duration – 2 days

    Overview - Designed to help students use the variety of geophysical interpretation tools in Kingdom. Helps students develop Kingdom software skills by progressing through basic seismic interpretation workflows, starting with basic seismic and well display and then advancing to time-depth conversion and data display in 3D View. Students will learn also learn workflows for simple post-stack processing techniques, digital log editing, fault and horizon interpretation, synthetic generation, and basic gridding and surface calculations. This course is not intended to teach entry-level interpretation skills or definitions.

    Objectives - Hands-on exercises, and covering the following topics: -

    • Kingdom basics, including selecting proper licensing and creating a new author
    • Managing project data using Project Explorer and setting project and Base Map display preference
    • Selecting and navigating through 2D and 3D seismic data
    • Applying seismic mistie corrections from the Mistie Table and generating new seismic data types
    • Managing well data in Well Explorer
    • Querying and saving well subsets
    • Displaying and editing digital log curves
    • Generating synthetics using the Kingdom Synthetics module
    • Interpreting fault surfaces and fault polygons using basic digitizing methods
    • Interpreting horizon surfaces using manual picking, basic 2D auto-picking, and basic 3D auto-picking techniques
    • Gridding and surface calculations

    Geological Data Loading

    Duration – 1 day

    Overview - Designed primarily for geoscience technicians and interpreters responsible for creating Kingdom projects and loading culture, well, log, and production data into Kingdom. The course assumes that students have a fundamental understanding of the data types used in this class.

    Objectives - Hands-on exercises, and covering the following topics: -

    • Kingdom project creation, including establishing project extents, setting project options, selecting an XY projection method, setting user preferences, and understanding the concept of authorship
    • Import cultural data in various formats and edit and manage culture groups and layers
    • Review enhanced layer-based mapping workflows in Spatial Explorer
    • Import well data from ASCII format and S&P Global well data files
    • Import other types of well data such as deviation surveys, time-depth charts, zone attribute data, and formation tops in ASCII format
    • Import digital log curves and review digital log curve management
    • Import both calibrated and uncalibrated raster logs and use Well Explorer calibration tools to calibrate, edit, and add formation picks on raster logs
    • Load S&P Global and ASCII formatted monthly production data, view monthly and cumulative production data, and edit existing production data
    • Use Spatial Explorer to create a map in Map View and AOI Print View
    • Use PAKnotes to attach various types of documentation (Word docs, Excel files, PowerPoints, and graphic files) to a Kingdom project
    • In addition to importing workflows for various data types, students will also review exporting methods of various data from a Kingdom project
    Geological Interpretation

    Duration – 2 days

    Overview - Focusing on tools and techniques for managing and interpreting geologic data. Because geologic data is the focus, only licenses for Advanced Kingdom Geology and a 3D View are required.

    Objectives - Hands-on exercises, and covering the following topics: -

    • View and manage well and production data in Well Explorer
    • Manage digital logs, including editing, calculations, and computations
    • Manage raster logs, including raster calibration, picking, and digitizing tools
    • Manage formation top, including display settings and properties
    • Formation top picking methods in geologic sections and 3D View
    • Set up geologic section displays and review interpretation tools
    • Grid and contour geologic data manually and automatically using the DCMU tool
    • Review zone concepts and use the Compute functions for zone, production, and log data
    • Work with culture data in a Base Map and 3D View
    • Review basic mapping techniques, including data posting, highlight symbols, attribute maps, and bubble maps
    Advanced Mapping Techniques

    Duration – 2 days

    Overview - Designed to equip users with the ability to create optimal maps using the Kingdom software. Covering the three primary elements of computer-based mapping. Gridding - create a model surface based on input data of variable order. Interpreting - prepare these surfaces for mathematical operations of interest to the explorationist or driller. Communication - provide a means to convey the results in a meaningful way.

    Objectives - Hands-on exercises, and covering the following topics: -

    • Selecting a grid algorithm appropriate to the objective and input data
    • Making the best parameter choice selection for grid workflows
    • Gridding for stratigraphic purposes
    • Gridding for structural purposes
    • Advanced mapping using the Dynamic Map Update module
    • Use the Grid Shaping Tool Editor in the interpretation process
    • Understanding the factors in selecting appropriate color bars
    • Building a new color bar

    Analytics Explorer

    Duration – 1 day

    Overview - Provide you with an introduction to the basic skills and methodologies required to visualize and analyze your data. You will learn how to embed data analytics at every stage of the Kingdom interpretation workflows from data loading to quality control to log facies characterization. You will also learn how to apply advanced calculations and machine learning algorithms from Spotfire to classify and predict data from Kingdom projects and any other external data source integrated with Analytics Explorer.

    Objectives - Hands-on exercises, and covering the following topics: -

    • Synchronizing project data between Analytics Explorer and Kingdom
    • Loading and working in an Analytics Explorer template file
    • Creating, using, and saving Analytics Explorer template files
    • Mining and quality-checking your project data
    • Identifying and correcting erroneous data using both Analytics Explorer and Well Explorer
    • Creating well subsets in Analytics Explorer
    • Analyzing log facies
    • Performing calculations to help predict production analysis

    AVO Analysis for Hydrocarbon Detection

    Duration – 2 days

    Overview - AVOPAK provides interpreters with the ability to perform real-time AVO analysis of seismic data in hydrocarbon exploration. It is an integral part of the S&P Global Kingdom® software, facilitating data interpretation to take full advantage of the potential of Kingdom Geology, Kingdom Geophysics, VuPAK, and GeoSyn. This two-day course is designed for Kingdom users who want to go beyond their conventional

    amplitude interpretation and explore the Pre-stack capabilities Kingdom has to offer in hydrocarbon exploration.

    Objectives - Hands-on exercises, and covering the following topics: -

    • Overview of AVO terminology, brief history, and principles
    • Seismic gather importing
    • Offset/angle gather stacking
    • Gather manipulation, conditioning, and display
    • Gather interpretation
    • Generating/editing synthetics
    • Creating a forward model using 1DFM
    • AVO attribute computation
    • Crossplot of AVO attributes

    Exploration Techniques for Unconventional Resource Plays

    Duration – 2 days

    Overview - Provides suggested geological workflows for resource plays, specifically unconventional shale plays. Many of these workflows may prove useful in other trends, including conventional plays. Designed to demonstrate interpretation techniques and workflows using S&P Global™ Kingdom®. These techniques contribute to the ability of petroleum geoscientists to explore for oil and gas in geologic settings that were previously never considered to be reservoirs. The effective use of resource play techniques can influence the economics of the unconventional reservoir.

    Objectives - Hands-on exercises, and covering the following topics: -

    • Quality check your data using Kingdom Analytics
    • Create maps (gridding)
    • Estimate total organic carbon using Kingdom Petrophysics
    • Perform future well planning using Well Path Planner
    • Geosteer a horizontal well
    Geosteering

    Duration – 1 day

    Overview - S&P Global Kingdom® Geosteering allows users to accurately and efficiently steer wells along a target of interest in a completely integrated interpretation environment. This reduces the need to duplicate data while providing a consistent view across the entire asset team.

    Objectives - Hands-on exercises, and covering the following topics: -

    • Create cases with planned, drilling, and reference wells along vertical sections or the wellbore
    • Load deviation survey and log data for drilling wells
    • Calibrate a drilling well to selected reference wells and between reference wells
    • Correlate drilling well log with reference well log, resulting in accurate prediction of formation bedding orientation
    • Incorporate seismic data in time using Dynamic Depth Conversion, and therefore time horizons seen in virtual depth, with easy model updates as interpretations are done
    • Predict a structural model using Dynamic Map Update which aids in understanding landing depths
    • Easily update the drilling well as new data arrives
    Integrated Geoscience Data Loading

    Duration – 2 days

    Overview - Provides students with additional insight into data importing and exporting techniques not covered in either the Geological Data Loading or Geophysical Data Loading classes. Uses a realistic training scenario, where a new Kingdom project is built from both an existing project and data from external sources. Provides workflows using the new Kingdom Data Transfer, Well Explorer, and Spatial Explorer modules.

    Objectives - Hands-on exercises, and covering the following topics: -

    • Using Kingdom Data Transfer to copy data from one Kingdom project to another
    • Export 2D seismic data, 3D seismic data, arbitrary seismic lines, wells, culture, local and shared time-depth (TD) charts, seismic horizons, faults, fault polygons, grids, planimeter polygons, contours, seismic wavelets and traces, synthetic traces, XYZ data sets, and zone data from an existing Kingdom project
    • Load culture (in Kingdom, DXF, and Landmark formats), including TIFF images and shapefiles
    • Load wells from different sources using Landmark OWX, Tobin, GDS, and generic formats
    • Bulk load deviation surveys, well logs (LAS format), and formation tops (Excel spreadsheet)
    • Load local and shared TD charts using well subsets
    • Load plus merging/extending 2D/3D seismic surveys
    • Copy seismic surveys into a new Kingdom project using the Share/Copy option
    • Load and merge seismic horizons
    • Load other interpreted data including faults and fault polygons, grids, contours, seismic wave-lets, synthetic traces, XYZ data, and zone data.
    Kingdom Data Management

    Duration – 1 day

    Overview - Introduction to the KDM Catalog Builder and Kingdom Data Manager module—Kingdom’s tools that help you manage your Kingdom project and data environment. This course is designed to help system administrators, geotechnicians, data managers, or geoscientists manage Kingdom project data more effectively and efficiently. This course is not intended to teach best practices on Kingdom project data management, but rather to teach you how to use a data-management tool, Kingdom DM.

    Objectives - Hands-on exercises, and covering the following topics: -

    • Locate and inventory all Kingdom projects
    • Examine project data and identify redundant and incomplete projects
    • Query multiple projects for specific criteria
    • Examine the location and accessibility of Kingdom projects’ seismic files
    • Reduce storage needs by sharing seismic between projects more efficiently
    • Convert a project from one database to another
    • Make a copy of a project with the same or different database
    • Copy and move data from one Kingdom project directly into another Kingdom project using Kingdom Data Transfer
    Kingdom Data Loading via Direct Connect

    Duration – 1 hr

    Overview - Demonstrate using Direct Connect to S&P Global Data inside the Kingdom software program, for convenient project building and faster well and production updates. Learn how to update projects faster by adding new wells and updating content without leaving Kingdom.

    Objectives - You can expect the following workflows to be featured, and an opportunity to ask questions: -

    • Learn Direct Connect options for Well Data, Production Data, and Log Data imports inside the Kingdom software program
    • Use existing Enerdeq Queries and create new Enerdeq Queries in Kingdom Direct Connect
    • Use existing project Subsets to update Well and Production Data
    • Draw polygon on Kingdom Base Map to create a Direct Connect AOI for well imports
    • Manage and schedule Kingdom Direct Connect Jobs for future updates
    • Import Raster and Digital Logs from the S&P Global Direct Connect Bulk Log Database
    Microseismic

    Duration – 1 day

    Overview - Focuses on the basics of using the Kingdom Microseismic software.

    Objectives - Hands-on exercises, and covering the following topics: -

    • Load microseismic event and well-treatment data
    • View and filter microseismic event and well-treatment data in various ways based on a specific criteria
    • Create data subsets
    • Generate new microseismic attributes from existing data such as X-, Y-, Z-time, and Z-depth adjustments, borehole and horizon distance attributes, and extracted data attributes
    • Calculate event subset statistics, display histograms of almost any microseismic data type
    • Use the 2D Crossplot option to create and view crossplots of any combination of microseismic data.
    Petrophysics

    Duration – 1 day

    Overview - Focused on the Kingdom Petrophysics module.

    Objectives - Hands-on exercises, and covering the following topics: -

    • Learn the basics of navigating the Kingdom Petrophysics module and how this module integrates and interacts with a Kingdom project
    • Practice using curve editing tools with hands-on exercises including splicing, depth shifting and multi-well normalizing
    • Work with the curve calculators to create curves by basic log function computing and utilizing multi-line formulas
    • Use the TOC module to create TOC curves and then use the TOC to apply Organic Shale logic to a deterministic petrophysics workflow using the Log Analysis module
    • Use the Log Analysis module to interactively adjust the log parameters in a multi-zone analysis to see immediate results using crossplots, histograms, and log plot tools
    • Use Multi Linear Regression to create regression formulas for curve prediction to aid in completing a well’s log suite
    • Create facies curves using the Cluster Analysis for Rock Typing option

    Wind Energy

    Duration – 2 days

    Overview - Designed for individuals in the offshore wind energy industry, including geotechnical consultants, energy companies, and regulatory agencies. Teaches S&P Global Kingdom® software tools and techniques to import, manage, interpret, and communicate important geophysical, geotechnical, and subsurface data to analyze the seafloor for offshore wind energy planning and development effectively.

    This course offers new workflows and techniques for seafloor analysis that assist with Cable Burial Risk Assessments (CBRA) and alignments charts. In general, the offshore wind energy industry uses similar geotechnical data types to the oil and gas industry; however, there are some differences. This course reviews the similarities and differences between these data types and how to manage them in Kingdom for offshore wind projects.

    Objectives - Hands-on exercises, and covering the following workflows: -

    • Importing high-resolution seismic and geotechnical data types
    • Interpreting seismic data and picking horizons on the seafloor
    • Creating grids of various seafloor attributes to create an accurate ground model
    • Creating new geotechnical data types (SBT facies log) from CPT logs
    • Performing qualitative analysis on SBT logs in Kingdom Analytics
    • Visualizing geophysical and geotechnical data in 3D View
