The average recovery rate on defaulted first-lien corporate debt in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa remained broadly stable between 2003 and 2021, at 72.5%, despite the COVID-19 pandemic and associated economic downturn putting significant pressure on some sectors in the past couple of years.
