The SDV promises a far more rewarding in- and out-of-vehicle experience for owners, drivers and passengers in the future. Consumers have seen how easily their mobile and digital devices are upgraded, apps updated, and faults are fixed with over-the-air software, and they are demanding a smartphone-like in-vehicle experience. The traditional approach of the legacy automakers when it comes to vehicle software and settings is looking increasingly primitive.
To realize the vision of the SDV, the global automotive industry is increasing research effort and spending to create portable software that can be migrated into a wide range of hardware and electric/electronic (EE) platforms and building cloud-native software infrastructure for seamless application integration.
The decoupling of the vehicle development process from a vehicle's hardware and software integration under the SDV megatrend will see two automotive value chains work together, even though SDV presents OEMs with a unique and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reset their business model centered around software and digitalization of services. A more decentralized supply chain with the OEM at the center of system integration will be seen on the market.
The SDV value chain's development revolves around the OEMs. The degree of internal software capability will determine how much they are involved. This may be influenced by philosophical or strategic considerations, or it may only reflect the availability of resources (financial and human).
Presentations include:
Our global analysts will provide market intelligence notes on software development growth towards SDV and case studies on architectural and technology migration trends along with connected services and cybersecurity.
Hope you can join us for a day of insightful presentations.
