Japan Tobacco Inc. on July 31 completed its acquisition of Donskoy Tabak, Russia's fourth-biggest tobacco producer, the Japanese manufacturer said in an Aug. 1 release.
The company, which sells tobacco products under the Winston, Camel, MEVIUS and LD brands, on March 16 announced the agreement to purchase the Russian cigarette maker for approximately 90 billion Russian rubles.
Japan Tobacco aims to cement its top position in the world's third-biggest tobacco market with the deal.
The group said that the transaction will not have any material impact on its consolidated performance for fiscal 2018.
As of July 31, US$1 was equivalent to 62.38 Russian rubles.
