Voodoo secures minority investment from Tencent

Voodoo SAS secured a minority investment from Tencent Holdings Ltd. at an enterprise value of €1.2 billion.

The French mobile game publisher was founded in 2013 by Alexandre Yazdi, currently its CEO, and Laurent Ritter. Yazdi will remain its largest shareholder and, together with the management, will retain the control of the group, the company said Aug. 17.

The partnership with Tencent will help Voodoo expand and adapt its games for the Asian market, as well as expand into casual games.

A report earlier this year indicated that Voodoo shareholders were looking to sell their stake in the company.
