The U.S. Department of Energy awarded two digital modernization contracts worth a total of $34.6 million to Verizon Communications Inc. unit Verizon Public Sector.
Verizon won the contracts under the federal government's Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions contract vehicle, a Dec. 1 news release said.
The carrier will supply Internet Protocol-enabled voice services to all existing DOE locations and future sites. A separate contract requires the telco to provide several data services, including the virtual private network service.
Verizon will also supply enterprise IT services to the energy department's Washington, D.C., headquarters, as well an engage with DOE offices and facilities with mission-specific services in Hawaii, England and Japan.
This award with DOE comes following a series of other EIS awards for Verizon, including Naval District Washington, the U.S. Department of Labor and the Air National Guard.
Verizon in 2019 secured a three-year authority to sell its services under the EIS contract. The company's other clients include Naval District Washington, the U.S. Department of Labor, and the Air National Guard.
