Total becomes European company, changes name

French oil major Total SA changed its name to Total SE following its July 16 registration as a European company with the Trade and Companies Register of Nanterre, according to a July 17 news release.

The registration was approved at a May 29 shareholders meeting and follows negotiations with employee representatives in 25 countries in the European economic area, the release said.

The name change will apply to stock exchanges trading its shares and American Depository Shares. However, Total's international securities identification number codes and mnemonics remain unchanged.
