The Pay Check: Meta, Amazon, Alphabet disclose execs' 2021 compensation

* Meta Platforms Inc. CEO Mark Zuckerberg once again took a $1 salary in 2021 but his overall package increased to $26.8 million from $25.3 million in 2020. Zuckerberg's 2021 pay package consisted almost entirely of costs related to personal security for Zuckerberg at his residences and during personal travel pursuant to his overall security program, annual security allowance and costs related to personal usage of private aircraft, according to an SEC filing.

The 2021 pay packages of COO Sheryl Sandberg and CFO David Wehner jumped to roughly $35.2 million and $24.4 million, respectively, from $24.8 million and $16.1 million in 2020.

* Andy Jassy, who succeeded Jeff Bezos as CEO of Amazon.com Inc. in the third quarter of 2021, received about $212.7 million in 2021, thanks to a special grant in connection with the promotion that increased his annual stock awards to $211.9 million.

Amazon CFO Brian Olsavsky's 2021 compensation plunged to $163,200 from $17.2 million in 2020. Olsavsky did not receive any stock awards in 2021, compared to $17.0 million in 2020. Amazon's Worldwide Consumer business CEO David Clark earned $56.1 million and Amazon Web Services CEO Adam Selipsky earned $81.5 million in 2021.

* Alphabet Inc. paid CEO Sundar Pichai roughly $6.3 million in 2021 compensation, down from the $7.4 million Pichai received in 2020. Pichai's salary remained at $2 million, while the CEO's other compensation decreased to $4.3 million from $5.4 million in 2020.

CFO Ruth Porat's 2021 compensation fell to $14.7 million from $50.9 million in 2020, mainly due to a difference in stock awards. Porat, who was paid about $50.2 million in stock awards in 2020, received about $14.0 million worth of awards in 2021. Google LLC Senior Vice President of Knowledge and Information Prabhakar Raghavan and Chief Business Officer Philipp Schindler received $28.6 million and $28.7 million, respectively, in 2021.

In other compensation news:

* Parag Agrawal, who replaced Jack Dorsey as CEO Twitter Inc. in November 2021, received $30.4 million in 2021 compensation, including $623,077 in salary, $29.1 million in stock awards and $599,507 in nonequity incentive plan compensation.

CFO Ned Segal's 2021 total compensation surged to $18.9 million from $8.0 million in 2020, thanks largely to stock awards worth $17.8 million. Segal's salary remained unchanged year over year at $600,000, and the executive's pay package included $450,000 in nonequity incentive plan compensation.

* Nielsen Holdings PLC CEO David Kenny's 2021 pay package totaled $13.8 million, up from $10.7 million in 2020. Kenny earned a salary of $1.3 million without any bonus in 2021, along with stock awards worth $8.7 million.

CFO Linda Zukauckas took home $6.2 million in 2021, down from $9.7 million in 2020. Zukauckas earned $800,000 in salary, and the CFO's stock awards decreased by about 56.7% year over year to $2.8 million. Both Kenny and Zukauckas received $1.5 million each in option awards.

* United States Cellular Corp. President and CEO Laurent Therivel took home $6.4 million in total compensation for 2021, down from $9.2 million in the comparable period. CFO Douglas Chambers received $2.1 million in 2021, including $532,600 in salary and $1.2 million in stock awards.

* Cinemark Holdings Inc. CEO Mark Zoradi earned $7.6 million in 2021 compensation, about 9% higher than the $6.9 million the CEO received a year earlier. Zoradi's pay included $1.1 million in salary, $4.4 million in stock awards and $1.7 million in nonequity incentive plan compensation. Cinemark gave President and CFO Sean Gamble $3.1 million in 2021, including $1.5 million in stock awards and $963,000 in nonequity incentive plan compensation. The pay package of Executive Chairman of the board Lee Mitchell rose to $2.3 million in 2021 from $1.4 million in 2020.

* World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. paid Chairman and CEO Vincent McMahon received $5.1 million in 2021, up 29.3% from the $3.9 million the executive received in 2020. McMahon's total pay package included $1.4 million in salary, $1.7 million in stock awards and $2 million in nonequity incentive plan compensation.

President and Chief Revenue Officer Nick Khan earned $5.7 million, compared to $13.0 million in 2020. In 2021, Khan received $1.2 million in salary, $1.8 million in stock awards and $2.7 million in nonequity incentive plan compensation. Chief Financial and Administrative Officer Frank Riddick earned $6.6 million in 2021 compensation.
