Parties spar over renewable gas standards in Florida Gas settlement at FERC

A proposed Florida Gas Transmission Co. LLC settlement drew objections at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission from shippers and advocates of renewable natural gas who said new gas-quality specifications would hinder the emerging fuel source. On June 6, BP Energy Co. and Shell Energy North America (US) LP urged the presiding FERC administrative law judge and commission to reject the proposed settlement filed by Florida Gas Transmission.

Tallgrass Energy units to remove gas line from FERC purview in shift to CO2

Trailblazer Pipeline Co. LLC and an affiliate proposed to take a natural gas pipeline slated for conversion to CO2 transportation out from under the jurisdiction of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Tallgrass Energy LP units Trailblazer and Rockies Express Pipeline LLC filed a joint abbreviated application for a certificate and "abandonment authorization" with FERC on May 27.

US EPA to empower states to oppose pipelines, reversing Trump water quality rule

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will seek to restore state authority to review and potentially oppose natural gas pipelines and other infrastructure through the control of critical water quality permits, the agency said June 2. The action would undo a Trump-era regulation intended to prevent states from blocking such projects.

Spire says Mo. regulatory report bolsters case for gas pipeline FERC certificate

Spire STL Pipeline LLC cited a report by Missouri utility regulators as evidence that the natural gas pipeline is needed and should receive long-term federal authorization. An outside management consultant, Schumaker & Co., helped the staff of the Missouri Public Service Commission review the contract for gas transportation between Spire STL Pipeline and its affiliate, Spire Missouri Inc., which became the subject of a court case.
