Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. committed to transition its investment portfolio to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

MassMutual is currently partnering with its outside asset managers, including its wholly owned global asset management subsidiary Barings LLC, to evaluate its general investment account that represents $222 billion of assets under management.

The life insurer also pledged that its operations will reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 by reducing emissions, purchasing renewable energy and removing the remaining footprint through offsets.
