Greenleaf Power LLC has entered into a five-year power purchase agreement to deliver to the Imperial Irrigation District up to 45 MW from the Desert View Power woody biomass power plant in Riverside County, Calif.
The company has also commissioned an interconnection study to explore the potential for adding a battery energy storage system to the Desert View Power site, it said in an April 29 news release.
"We have finalized negotiations between Greenleaf and [Imperial Irrigation District]. This five-year agreement lets us continue to provide green, local and reliable power to the more than 150,000 residents and businesses in the Imperial Valley," Greenleaf Power CEO Greg Cook said.
Desert View Power has a capacity of 47 MW, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence data. It has been operating since 1991. A 10-year power purchase agreement with the Imperial Irrigation District is due to expire this month, according to Market Intelligence data.
