Google LLC's platforms will start blocking all political advertisements following the D.C. riots and ahead of the presidential inauguration, Axios reported Jan. 13, citing an email to advertisers.
The Alphabet Inc. unit will also ban advertisements "referencing candidates, the election, its outcome, the upcoming presidential inauguration, the ongoing presidential impeachment process, violence at the U.S. Capitol or future planned protests on these topics," according to the email.
The move will reportedly cover the company's ad tech platforms such as Google Ads, DV360, AdX Authorized Buyer and YouTube LLC.
Google also said it will be "extremely vigilant" in implementing its policy against ads promoting hate or inciting violence.
The company intends to enforce the ban until at least Jan. 21.
