The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission allowed Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. to acquire Apex Clean Energy Inc.'s stake in the 80-MW planned Altavista Solar Project in Campbell County, Va.
Under the transaction (EC21-33), approved Feb. 22, Algonquin Power Fund will acquire the 50% membership stake in n Altavista Solar SponsorCo owned by Dragonfly Solar Holdings, an affiliate of Apex Clean Energy.
Liberty Utilities (America) Holdings LLC, also an Algonquin affiliate, owns the 100% class A non-managing interest in the power plant. The project, which began testing in 2020, is interconnected to the transmission system of Appalachian Power Co. within the PJM Interconnection, according to a FERC filing.
