Entergy Texas starts operations at 993-MW natural gas-fired plant

Entergy Texas Inc.'s 993-MW, gas-fired combined-cycle Montgomery County Power Station, in Montgomery County, Texas, located in the Midcontinent ISO market, has achieved commercial operations.

Construction on the power plant started in 2018 and the facility began operating "well ahead of schedule," the Entergy Corp. subsidiary said in a Jan. 12 press release.

The new plant, announced in 2016, was built adjacent to Entergy Texas' 50-year-old Lewis Creek plant, which the company said is going to continue to be operated to help meet growing demand in its eastern Texas service area.
