EnergyNest AS and Siemens Energy entered a long-term partnership to develop thermal energy storage solutions for industrial customers, the companies announced June 26.
Under the partnership, EnergyNest will leverage its technology to incorporate its proprietary thermal battery in Siemens Energy's projects, as well as identify and execute joint customer projects. The companies aim to realize first joint commercial projects within one year.
EnergyNest already has two commercial projects underway, including a thermal battery for Italian energy company Eni SpA, and repurposing waste heat into primary energy input for Austrian brick manufacturer Senftenbacher.
Another project, currently under development in the Netherlands, is designed to use excessive renewable electricity to replace natural gas.
