Operator China Three Gorges Corp. generated nearly 111.80 billion kWh of electricity for the year, breaking the 103.10 billion-kWh record set by the Itaipu Dam in South America in 2016, according to the report.
Spanning the Yangtze River in Hubei province, central China, the Three Gorges Dam supplies electricity to eastern and southern China.
