US AND CANADA
* The U.S. National Telecommunications and Information Administration will host a virtual industry roundtable listening session titled "The National Strategy To Secure 5G Industry Listening" on Feb. 25.
ASIA-PACIFIC
* Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. unveiled its foldable flagship smartphone Mate X2, which uses the company's Kirin 9000 5G chipset.
* Philippines-based mobile operator Smart Communications Inc. teamed up with KT Corp. to launch its 5G roaming service in South Korea. Smart is the wireless arm of PLDT Inc.
* Vodafone New Zealand Ltd. launched its 5G broadband service in portions of Auckland, Christchurch, Queenstown and Wellington.
EUROPE, MIDDLE EAST AND AFRICA
* Ericsson launched three new radio solutions and six network products to help speed up 5G midband rollouts.
* UAE-based operator du will use Ericsson's 5G radio access network products to expand and modernize its network.
* Orange Espagne SAU CEO Jean-François Fallacher urged the Spanish government to cut the €1.17 billion price of 5G frequencies to be auctioned in March, Reuters reported, citing El País.
* Bouygues Telecom SA, Iliad SA's Free Mobile, Orange SA, SFR FTTH SAS and the mayor of Paris reached an agreement for the deployment of 5G within the next few weeks.
* Nokia will supply 5G radio access and core network services to A1 Telekom Austria.
* Telenor ASA unit Telenor Danmark Holding A/S switched on its first 5G mobile mast in Odense, Denmark.
* Orange Espagne plans to extend its 5G coverage to 90% of Spain's population by 2022, Telecompaper reported, citing Xataka Movil.
* Deutsche Telekom AG, Vodafone Deutschland GmbH and Telefónica Deutschland Holding AG are in "intensive negotiations" to use freenet AG's 5G network, Telecompaper reported, citing Teltarif.
* Nokia and Finnish operator Elisa Oyj will jointly provide 5G private mobile offerings.
* Telenor Norge AS has established seven 5G base stations in Stavanger, Norway, since its rollout began in December 2020.
* O2 Slovakia s.r.o. tapped Ericsson for its 5G network deployment, Telecompaper reported.
* 1&1 Drillisch struck deals with affiliate 1&1 Versatel, Deutsche Telekom and Telefónica Deutschland to help speed up the German operator's 5G rollout.
* Zain KSA signed an exclusive deal with The Red Sea Development Co. to offer 5G and other telecom services on Red Sea sites during construction, Telecompaper reported.
* Telia Co. AB unit Telia Norge AS launched a 5G mobile broadband service with three different speeds.
* A1 Telekom Austria extended its 5G glass fiber network to cover around 280 additional areas in Austria.
