IHS expects 2020 US LNG export capacity to place the US third in the world behind Australia and Qatar, reaching almost 56 million tonnes [7.4 billion standard cubic feet daily]. IHS is now releasing to the industry a new map called 'LNG and the New Map of Global Gas'providing statistics on Global LNG Trade, summaries of US liquefaction capacity, and a comparison to the global liquefaction inventory. Significant liquefaction facilities are planned or under construction in the US and around the globe, over 3 times existing capacity. The industry is moving away from its inflexible supply model and oil indexation pricing is coming under pressure. LNG will likely be the change agent for the global gas industry in the years ahead.
