The European M&A market experienced a slight uptick in both aggregate deal value and deal count in Q3 2024. Aggregate deal values and deal count on a year-over-year basis both increased +16.4% ($127.3B from $109.4B) and +8.4% (2,833 from 2,613 deals) respectively. The Healthcare industry saw a major drop-off in activity going from $13.3B to $2.3B on a YoY basis (-82,7%). The largest deal of the quarter was the $15.8B acquisition of Schenker AG by Danish outfit DSV A/S in the Air Freight and Logistics sector. In addition, Robert Bosch GmbH was involved in two of the 10 largest deals of the quarter amounting to nearly $8.0B, giving the company a larger footprint in the UK and Ireland. The United Kingdom led all European countries in ‘deal size’ and ‘deal volume’ marking a continued interest in UK assets and companies, with five out of the 10 largest deals in Europe.
