M&A activity in Asia-Pacific showed signs of recovery in the third quarter 2024. Total deal values reached $104B, a 67% increase from the second quarter and an 11% increase from the same period in 2023. Deal counts also increased to 1,816, representing a 12% increase against Q3 2023. This was the highest quarter by deal value since Q2 2022 and the highest by deal count since Q4 2022. Information technology accounted for nearly one third of all APAC deal values for the quarter at $30B, aided by the $16B acquisition of Australian data center operator, AirTrunk, by an investor group led by Blackstone and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. China saw the most deals by count, while it fell second to Australia in total deal value for the quarter.
