Head of ESG - Vanguard

Sarah Friedman Hersh, CFA, leads the US/Enterprise ESG team in Vanguard's Portfolio Review Department. The team is a hub of ESG investment expertise, enabling Vanguard to serve clients interested in ESG with a compelling product lineup and supporting ecosystem. Sarah contributes investment thought leadership to Vanguard and industry dialogue on ESG topics that affect long-term value creation for Vanguard funds. Sarah was previously a leader on Vanguard’s Investment Stewardship team, where she led board-level company engagements and a team of proxy-voting analysts covering industrials, materials, energy, and utilities companies in the Americas. Before joining Vanguard in 2016, she worked in philanthropy and government relations.

Sarah earned a B.A. in international studies from Kenyon College and an M.B.A. from the Yale School of Management. She is a CFA® charterholder and holds the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board’s Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting credential.
