Katrina Dudley, CFA, CAIA is a Senior Vice President, Portfolio Manager, and Investment Strategist at Franklin Templeton Investments, one of the world’s largest asset managers, where she co-manages the Franklin Mutual Global Discovery and Franklin Mutual European Funds. She joined the Mutual Series investment team in November 2002.
Ms. Dudley has a passion for advocating for women in finance and business. She has mentored many up-and-coming female investment professionals, speaking at industry events encouraging more women to enter the investment management industry, and helping female executives increase their familiarity with Wall Street. She is the author of the introduction to the Vault Career Guide to Mutual Funds and is co-author with Columbia Business School Adjunct Professor Carr, “Undiversified: The Big Gender Short in Investment Management”. Ms. Dudley is a frequent market commentator on Bloomberg and CNBC.
Ms. Dudley earned an M.B.A. from New York University's Stern School of Business, a Law degree (with first class honors) and a Commerce degree from Bond University (Australia), and an Associate of Science degree (Computer Science) from the University of the People. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charter holder and a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA). Stephen Lawrence, Ph.D., is a Senior Investment Strategist in the Vanguard Investment Strategy Group. His research into the performance of active and passive investments incorporates insights from financial economics, data science and machine learning. Previously at Vanguard, he was Head of Investment Management Fintech Data Science where he oversaw data science applications of new structured and unstructured data sources into the investment process. Prior to joining Vanguard, Dr. Lawrence was Head of Quantextual Research at State Street Bank where he led a machine learning product team. Mona is Global Head of ESG Capital Markets Strategy for S&P Global Sustainable1. Previously, Mona was Senior Director, Head of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Product Strategy, North America at S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI). In this role, Mona lead the strategy for developing ESG indices for the North American market, from best-in-class approaches like the world-renowned Dow Jones Sustainability Index, to broad-market ESG alternatives and core solutions like the S&P 500 ESG Index. She also served as the global spokesperson for S&P DJI's ESG Indices, educating the market on the values of ESG investing and our industry-leading ESG lineup.
Prior to joining S&P DJI, Mona was Director at Trucost (part of S&P Global) and advised some of North America's biggest institutional investors on low-carbon and fossil fuel free strategies, energy transition alignment, and meeting the recommendations of the TCFD for investors. Mona served as an advisor to the Obama Administration on climate and energy policy and worked for several years as an economist at the UK's Bank of England. Mona also ran for public office in UK local government elections of 2010 and 2014 and devised the local Liberal Democrat party's communication strategy around education and the environment.
Mona graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree (with honors) in Government and Economics (double major) from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She is an experienced public speaker and regular market commentator on sustainable finance issues, with published works on topics as diverse as disruptive technologies to the problem of "short-termism" in mainstream finance.
