The SAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment™ (“CSA”) results, formerly known as the SAM ESG Scores, launched today as S&P Global ESG Scores on the S&P Global Market Intelligence Xpressfeed™ platform. The CSA was identified as one of the “highest quality” and most "useful” ESG assessments by sustainability professionals and investors*. Leading financial institutions have been enthusiastic about the CSA for a long time, but have not had access to the scores. For the first time, corporate ESG performance as measured by the CSA is widely accessible. Companies responding to the CSA are setting themselves apart by demonstrating dedication to the highest standards of ESG.
- CSA results are now available to the global investment community as S&P Global ESG Scores
- S&P Global ESG Scores are delivered via Xpressfeed™, integrating other ESG datasets with over 200 financial, market and referential datasets to power integrated investment signals
The acquisition of the CSA from asset manager RobecoSAM in January 2020 triggered strong interest from leading financial institutions in the CSA scores. The differentiated approach provided by the CSA and the deep corporate engagement make the S&P Global ESG Scores stand out amongst other research providers in the market.
Increased visibility of CSA scores to the investment community has long been demanded by our corporate stakeholders. S&P Global answered this request. Global investors and asset managers are now able to discover multiple layers of ESG insight with S&P Global ESG Scores. Scores will be available at company level (S&P Global ESG Score), dimension level (Environmental, Social, Governance & Economic), and below that the criteria level. So far only the percentile ranks had been shared down to this level.
S&P Global ESG Scores are powered by the deep heritage of the SAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment™ (CSA). Established in 1999 to pinpoint assess ESG factors expected to have an impact on a company’s growth, profitability, capital efficiency and risk exposure, the CSA provides unparalleled insight into the most financially material and relevant ESG issues for all industries. For the first time, financial institutions can harness the power of the CSA to benchmark portfolio ESG performance on a wide range of industry-focused environmental, social, governance & economic criteria financially relevant to corporate success.
