Chief Operating Officer
Sue Avinir is Chief Operating Officer, S&P Global Platts, a division of S&P Global and the leading global provider of information and benchmarks for the energy and commodity markets. In this role, Sue is responsible for ensuring the Platts operations model is aligned to the business strategy and overseeing the smooth day-to-day operations of the Platts business. Sue is also responsible for the successful integration of the division’s recent acquisitions and is a member of the Platts Executive Committee.
Up until October 2016, Sue led operations for the Platts Content function, spanning 650 people around the world, supporting the Platts pricing, news and analytics functions for almost three years. Before that, Sue was Vice President, Business Process Management, for the Commodities and Commercial Markets Segment, leading strategic and operational initiatives, furthering talent development through the Lean Six Sigma curriculum, and driving business transformation within multiple divisions including Platts, and former companies of S&P Global, J. D. Power and Associates and McGraw-Hill Construction.
Previously, Sue held a number of roles within S&P Global Ratings after joining the company in 2001, including Senior Director of Operations for the U.S. Mortgage Group where her responsibilities spanned general management and business operations for the U.S. Commercial Mortgage, Residential Mortgage, and Servicer Evaluations teams.
Sue spent over 12 years in management consulting before joining S&P Global, focusing on strategy, operational improvement, and organizational change for clients in financial services, professional services and consumer products.
Sue holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from The University of Albany and an MBA from New York University, Leonard N. Stern School of Business.
