Brian Casey

Chief Strategy Officer

Brian Casey is Chief Strategy Officer for S&P Global Platts, a division of S&P Global and the leading independent provider of information and benchmark prices for the commodities and energy markets. In this role, Brian leads the Product Strategy & Market Development team and is responsible for identifying and pursuing acquisition and partnership opportunities that expand Platts business into new commodity and geographic markets.

Based in New York and a member of the Platts Executive Committee, Brian assumed his current position in February 2012. He transitioned to Platts in 2007 and has been instrumental in driving the division’s growth, having previously been responsible for the product management, marketing and conference functions.

Brian has played a leading role in Platts acquisitions including PIRA, RigData, Eclipse, Bentek, Petromedia, SBB and Kingsman, as well as the creation of Platts Enterprise Pricing Model.

Brian joined S&P Global in 2002 as Senior Director, Corporate Strategy. In this role, he helped shape business unit and enterprise level strategies. Three years later, he was promoted to Vice President, Acquisitions & Alliances, with responsibility for working with the business units on developing and sourcing acquisition opportunities.

Previously, Brian was a principal with Booz-Allen Hamilton, where he spent six years focused on developing market entry and competitive positioning strategies for numerous global companies. Earlier in his career, he held operating roles with Exxon Mobil and General Motors.

Brian earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an M.B.A from Dartmouth’s Amos Tuck School of Business.
