Laura Sims

Technical Research Principal - Europe, Upstream Intelligence

As a technical research principal at S&P Global, Laura is an expert on the current upstream activity in the UK, France, Belgium and the Faroe Islands. She provides the editorial content for GEPS to capture all current exploration, appraisal, development and energy transition activities relating to the petroleum industry, including developments relating to CCUS.

Laura is a technical research principal for the Europe Upstream Intelligence team. Laura is responsible for the editorial and data content of GEPS for the UK, France, Faroe Islands and Belgium, with previous experience covering the editorial and data content for the Netherlands, Denmark and Bulgaria.

Prior to joining the organization in 2019, she was a consultant for exploration projects predominantly in Europe and West Africa while also analyzing and reporting the recent exploration and appraisal activity in the UK and Norway. Laura started her career in 2010 as a geologist for a Nigerian operator, and she was involved in the exploration, appraisal and development of the company's onshore gas fields.

Laura holds a Master's degree in Petroleum Geoscience from Heriot Watt University, Scotland and a Postgraduate Certificate in Operations and Supply Chain Management from the University of Liverpool Management School.
