Rajeev Lala

Director, Upstream Strategies and Transformation

Rajeev Lala is a Associate Director in Companies and Transactions Research at S&P Global Commodity Insights.

Rajeev brings more than 8 years of analytical work experience and is focused on upstream strategies for National Oil Companies (NOC) and International Oil Companies (IOC) in the geographic arc spanning the Middle East, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. Rajeev transitioned from a successful early career in upstream M&A transaction analysis to the less quantitative and more nuanced world of strategy and performance analysis for NOCs and IOCs. In his capacity with the Upstream Companies research program, he not only analyses the upstream resources, activities, planning, partnering, and forward portfolios of the companies he covers, but also the unique government drivers and objectives that shape the strategies of these upstream players.

An alumnus of the prestigious School of International Studies at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, Rajeev completed his MA in International Relations and an MPhil in Energy politics from the Centre for European Studies at JNU. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. from the university around the subject of energy politics.
