Our latest report, How the Advancement of Black Woman Will Build a Better Economy For All(opens in a new tab) shows that black women in America face several hurdles to success, particularly regarding educational and professional opportunities, with the white-Black wage gap for female professionals at $12,700 in 2019. These inequities also mean lost productivity and product growth. If educational attainment among Black women had kept pace with that of white women from 1960-2019, the U.S. would have generated an additional $107 billion in economic activity.

Beth Ann Bovino is the U.S. Chief Economist at S&P Global Ratings, based in New York.
Beth Ann Bovino is the U.S. Chief Economist at S&P Global Ratings, based in New York. In this position, she develops S&P’s U.S. economic forecasts and authors the monthly U.S. Economic Forecast, the quarterly U.S. Risks to the Forecast, the weekly Financial Notes and the Weekly Economics Call. Beth Ann has created Industry Drivers reports for analyst research. She is quoted regularly in the press and has appeared on many major television programs. Further, she has written many articles for popular and professional publications.
Before joining Standard & Poor’s in February 2004, Beth Ann spent over ten years doing economic and market research with Sungard Institutional Brokerage, UBS Warburg, and the Federal Reserve.
The Wall Street Journal recognized Beth Ann as the most accurate forecaster of the U.S. economy in 2013.
Beth Ann holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, a master's degree in International and Development Economics from Yale University and a Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University.

Yasmine Chinwala is a partner at capital markets think tank New Financial, which launched in September 2014, leading its diversity and culture programme.
New Financial contributed data to the government-backed Gadhia Review of senior women in UK financial services, and works with HM Treasury to monitor the progress of signatories to the HM Treasury Women in Finance Charter. Yasmine has been a driving force behind the strategic development of the HM Treasury Women in Finance Charter since its inception, work for which she was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s birthday honours list for 2020.
New Financial firmly believes that diversity in its broadest sense is not only an essential part of running a sustainable business but a fundamental part of addressing cultural change. Our research topics include Diversity from an Investor’s Perspective, Diversity and Culture, Diversity in Portfolio Management, as well as improving understanding of the links between diversity and risk, and diversity and sustainability. In April, we published our Accelerating Black Inclusion research (co-sponsored by S&P Global), which focuses on the progression of Black colleagues into leadership positions in the UK finance sector and captures the experiences of senior Black leaders across the industry in the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder. Yasmine is also a member of the UK government-backed taskforce to improve socio-economic diversity in financial services.

Grace Chionuma is an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley. She is the Co-Head of the Housing and Community Development Finance Group within Public Finance Banking and a member of the Municipal Securities Operating Committee. She leads Morgan Stanley’s capital markets coverage of CDFIs, Non-Profit Affordable Housing Developers (NPAHD), and Charter Schools. Grace joined Morgan Stanley in 2006 and has over 15 years of banking experience in public finance, corporate finance, and sales & trading.
Grace served as the lead banker for the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) debt IPO in 2017, the inaugural CDFI sector public capital market debt offering. Since then, she has led several CDFI debt IPOs including bond issuances for Enterprise Community Loan Fund (ECLF), Low Income Investment Fund (LIIF), and BlueHub Loan Fund. In 2020, Grace led the NPAHD sector debt IPO with the BRIDGE Housing Social Bond issuance. Grace has worked with Freddie Mac on affordable housing securitizations including a MTEBs transaction with BRIDGE Housing assets and Freddie Mac’s first issuance under its Social Bond Framework which financed affordable housing loans of Impact Community Capital CDFI. In addition, Grace has worked with foundations including the Ford Foundation and the MacArthur Foundation to raise capital from institutional investors to increase grants during the COVID-19 and economic crisis of 2020. Within the public sector, Grace covers several large U.S. cities, including New York City, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and Atlanta, and the States of New Jersey and Connecticut.
Grace earned her B.A. at Dartmouth College, completing majors in both Government and Philosophy; and she earned her M.B.A. at Yale University School of Management. She lives in New York City in a bustling, multi-generational household.

As a corporate strategist and creative, she oversees Ariel's media relations, public and community affairs, internal communications, corporate and executive leadership communications, branding, and content marketing initiatives. Arielle also sits on the firm’s Operating Committee. She represents Ariel on the Public Communications Committee for the Investment Company Institute (ICI).
Prior to Ariel, Arielle worked for Edelman, the world's largest communications consulting firm. There, she served as Executive Vice President & Transaction Director in the Financial Communications & Capital Markets practice. She formerly held a variety of positions at global PR firm Weber Shandwick, a subsidiary of IPG, within its Financial Communications, Crisis Communications & Issues Management, and Corporate Reputation Management practices.
In her spare time, she is an investor and advisor to two early stage tech companies; sits on the National Advisory Board for Yellowstone National Park's foundation; the Board of Directors of The Harbor Sciences & Arts Charter School; the Steering Committee for the Young Fellows of The Frick Collection Museum; the President's Council of The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History; and the Alumnae Board for the Princeton Tigerlilies. She is also a Founding Member of Chief, a private club for senior women executives. Arielle graduated with an AB in Classics from Princeton University.

Asahi leads Goldman Sachs’ community engagement programs: 10,000 Women, 10,000 Small Businesses, Goldman Sachs Gives and Community TeamWorks.
Prior to assuming her current role, Asahi was co-chief compliance officer of Goldman, Sachs & Co and global head of Investment Banking Division Compliance, and had responsibility for conduct risk. She joined Goldman Sachs in 2006 and was named managing director in 2010 and partner in 2018.
Prior to joining the firm, Asahi was an associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, where she worked in the New York and Frankfurt offices.
Asahi graduated from Swarthmore College and earned a JD from Columbia University. She was born in Guyana, South America and attended high school in Tokyo, Japan, and worked as a corporate attorney in Frankfurt, Germany.
