Director, US Economics
Dr. Michael Zdinak is a Director on the US Economics team and leads the US Consumer Markets service at S&P Global Market Intelligence.
Michael has more than a decade of experience as a professional economist. His work focuses on how the latest techniques from machine learning and econometrics can be used to forecast economic activity and improve strategic decision-making in real time.
As a director, Michael is responsible for the forecasts of US consumer markets, spending, income, and prices. As a member of the US economics team, he produces the analysis which connects forecasts of the US economy to the consumer and household sectors. His work has been featured on National Public Radio and in the Wall Street Journal.
Before joining S&P Global, Michael worked at the Federal Reserve Board and the Securities and Exchange Commission. His academic research focuses on the dynamics of options markets and the effects of information on asset prices and inflation expectations. He is a member of the American Economic Association, the National Association for Business Economics, and the Econometric Society.
Michael holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis, where he serves as an adjunct faculty member.
