Harumi Taguchi, principal economist at S&P Global Market Intelligence, is responsible for macroeconomic analysis and forecasts on Japan and some Pacific Islands economies.

Harumi's expertise is in macroeconomic analysis and forecasts of Japan's economy with in-depth understanding of fiscal and monetary policies, currency and economic structural issues, financial and labor markets, and foreign trade. In addition to Japan, her area of focus includes American Samoa, Guam, and Micronesia. She has more than 20 years of experience in research and macroeconomic forecasts of many countries in the Asia-Pacific region. She joined IHS Markit(now part of S&P Global) in April 2013. She gained previous experience at Iwai Cosmo Securities Co., Japan Institute of Overseas Investment, Sumitomo Mitsui Asset Management Co. and Westpac Banking Corporation.

Harumi holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Meiji University, Tokyo, Japan, and a master's degree in Economics from Aoyama Gakuin University, Tokyo, Japan. She is fluent in Japanese and English.
