Karl Palsgaard

Product Management Associate Director, Maritime, Trade & Supply Chain

Karl Palsgaard is a Commodity Analytics product management associate director at S&P Global Market Intelligence.

Karl serves as product manager for the Commodities at Sea service within Maritime, Trade & Supply Chain's commodity analytics unit. In this role, his focus is on helping analysts, traders and chartering teams within energy, industrial raw material, agriculture and other bulk commodity-focused firms, governments and investment houses to leverage our near real-time trade flow visibility to support critical business decisions including physical and financial trading; to validate or challenge their own understanding of the markets through our independently-created, accurate, multi-source intelligence service; and to better shape their short term expectations for the market. He also works closely with clients and prospects to understand unmet needs and potential enhancements that our technical teams could design into the service to improve our clients' overall experience and our service's attractiveness to prospective clients.

Karl's experience in the energy industry goes back over 15 years when he worked in a price discovery role at Argus Media in Houston in support of refined petroleum products trading. He studied journalism and economics at Ithaca College in New York state and earned a MBA from Arizona State University's Thunderbird School of Global Management. He lives in south Florida and travels regularly to meet with clients around the world.
