Ricardo Montes, principal consultant for the Upstream Cost and Technology practice at S&P Global Commodity Insights.

Ricardo is a principal consultant with the Upstream Cost and Technology practice who focuses on upstream spending and market trends. He is currently responsible for the quarterly Global Upstream Spend report publication. Ricardo joined S&P Global Commodity Insights in 2008 and has more than 20 years of experience in the oil & gas sector. He has led a number of consulting engagements focused mainly on market analysis, competitive landscape, market strategy, due diligence and corporate strategy across a range of oilfield service sector segments. Specific areas of focus include offshore drilling, offshore construction vessels, subsea construction, offshore support vessels, and onshore drilling & completion services. He has worked closely with senior leadership at original equipment manufacturer companies, oilfield service companies, industrial conglomerates, National Oil Companies and private equity firms in identifying market opportunities and designing long term strategies.

Ricardo holds a Master of Engineering from the University of California Berkeley, United States and a Bachelor of Engineering in chemical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, United States.
