Cheryl Lynn Baxter is currently a Fellow with the CEO Action for Racial Equity, a corporate sponsored fellowship focused on changing the projected outcome of Black Americans impacted by effects fo systemic racism. Cheryl also leads advocacy efforts focused on policy and best practice solutions for social issues.
Prior to the fellowship, Cheryl was the Global Head of Compliance for S&P Dow Jones Indices, a division of S&P Global. In this role, Cheryl was responsible for driving a strong ethical and compliance culture, ensuring alignment with regulatory obligations, industry best practices and external stakeholders’ expectations. Cheryl developed, enforced company policies and led oversight programs to mitigate risks.
Prior to joining S&P Global, Cheryl held various roles in the regulatory, risk management and actuarial space with organizations including TIAA, Deloitte Consulting (Human Capital Practice) and Towers Perrin.
A passion for service, Cheryl has held volunteer roles with civic organizations, served on a not for profit board and has mentored students and early career professionals. Currently, Cheryl supports the S&P Global diversity and inclusion mission through ERG leadership, programming and diversity recruiting.
Cheryl earned a JD from Brooklyn Law School, MBA from Temple University and a BBA in Insurance with a concentration in Actuarial Science from Howard University.
