European imports of LNG declined in 2024, countering a trend of rising imports since the energy crisis began in 2022. While the Continent continues to expand its import infrastructure and diversify sources, Russian LNG still accounts for a material portion of Europe’s gas imports. The Continent imported 100.5 million mt of LNG in 2024, with Russia’s share up 12% on the year at some 16.1 million mt.
