Repairs carried out at 7.6 mil mt/year plant
Impact on production unclear
Oman LNG said it "will resume operations today" after carrying out maintenance works at its 7.6 million mt/year plant, in a posting to its official account on X (formerly known as Twitter) Nov. 15.
The majority state-owned LNG producer previously said in a Nov. 14 posting that the plant had suffered a "technical defect" and that "repair operations" had been successfully completed.
It did not give a specific reason for the outage or indicate any impact on production.
Earlier Nov. 15, sources familiar with the matter told S&P Global Commodity Insights that production at the plant had shut down unexpectedly, with a timeline for the restart of production uncertain.
Shell has a 30% stake in Oman LNG, with TotalEnergies holding 5.54% and Korea LNG 5%. Mitsubishi and Mitsui both hold 2.77% shareholdings in the project, with Thailand's PTTEP owning 2% and Japan's Itochu 0.92%.
