Petronas' subsidiary, Malaysia LNG Group of Companies, experienced a power loss at around 11:30 pm on May 10 (1530 GMT), leading to operational disruptions at the LNG complex in Bintulu, the state energy company said in a statement May 14.

Prior to the incident, the facility was running at optimal efficiency, Petronas said in the statement.

Petronas said in the statement that the cause of the power loss has been found, adding that steps are underway to resume the operations.

"Meanwhile, MLNG is continuously engaging partners and customers to mitigate the impact of the incident and fulfill its contractual commitments," Petronas said.

Petronas did not mention an estimated restart date in the statement.

Separately, some lifters of Bintulu LNG have recently received deferment requests from Petronas after upstream gas issues, S&P Global Commodity Insights reported previously.

Bintulu LNG has three trains each at MLNG and MLNG Dua, two trains at MLNG Tiga, and a ninth train operated by Petronas LNG 9. The whole LNG complex has nearly 30 million mt/year of capacity, which is among the largest LNG export capacities of its kind at a single location.
